Quran And Science

Creation of Sky:

The Quran says:

"Do they not look at the sky above them? How We have made it and adorned it and there are no flaws in it? And the earth--We have spread it out and set thereon mountains standing firm and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs). To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning (to Allah). And We send down from the sky Rain charged with blessing and We produce therewith Gardens and Grain for harvests."(50.6-9 )

"See they not what is before them and behind them of the sky and the earth? If We wished We could cause the earth to swallow them up or cause a piece of the sky to fall upon them. Verily in this is a Sign for every devotee that turns to Allah (in repentance)." (34.9 )

"Do they not look at the Camels how they are made? And at the Sky how it is raised high?"  (88.17-18)

"So turn thy vision again: Do you see any flaw? Again turn your vision a second time: (your) vision will come back to you dull and discomfited, in a state worn out." (67.3-4)

Sun and Moon:

The Quran says:

"It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty) and measured out stages for her: that ye might know the number of years and the count (of time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (Thus) doth He explain his Signs in detail for those who understand." ( 10.5 )

"Seest thou not that Allah merges Night into Day and He merges Day into Night; that He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His Law) each running its course for a term appointed: and that Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do?" ( 31.29 )

"And the Sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him) the exalted in Might the All-Knowing." ( 36.38 )

"Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; is firmly established on the throne (of authority); He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His law)! each one runs (its course) for a term appointed. He doth regulate affairs explaining the Signs in detail that ye may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord." (13.2 )

"It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon nor can the Night outstrip the Day: each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law)." ( 36.40 )

"He has made subject to you the Night and the Day; the Sun and the Moon; and the Stars are in subjection by His Command: verily in this are Signs for men who are wise." ( 16.12 )

"They ask thee concerning the new moons. Say: they are but signs to mark fixed periods of time in (the affairs of) men and for pilgrimage. It is no virtue if ye enter your houses from the back; it is virtue if ye fear Allah. Enter houses through the proper doors and fear Allah that ye may prosper." (2.189)

Clouds and Rain:

The Quran says:

"Seest thou not that Allah makes the clouds move gently then joins them together then makes them into a heap? then wilt thou see rain issue forth from their midst. And He sends down from the sky mountain masses (of clouds) wherein is hail: He strikes therewith whom He pleases and He turns it away fro whom He pleases. The vivid flash of His lightning well-nigh blinds the sight." ( 24.43 )

"And We send down from the sky Rain charged with blessing and We produce therewith Gardens and Grain for harvests." ( 50.9 )

"Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah sends down from the skies and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth; (here) indeed are signs for a people that are wise." ( 2.164 )

"And among His Signs He shows you the lightning by way both of fear and of hope and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise." (30.24?)

"A Sign for them is the earth that is dead; We do give it life and produce grain therefrom of which ye do eat. And We produce therein orchards with date-palms and Vines and We cause springs to gush forth therein. That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): it was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? "(36.33-35)

"Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah sends down from the skies and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds and the clouds which they trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth; (here) indeed are signs for a people that are wise.
