Prayers:
After accepting the faith the first obligation in Islam is "Salat" (prayers). The Salat (prayers) safeguards from sins and lewdness and bring peace to the hearts, which is the greatest desire of mankind above all worldly riches.
The Quran says: "Prayers safeguard you from sins and lewdness."
The Quran says: "Be informed that recounting the name of Allah will bring peace to your hearts."
The performance of the five daily prayers is compulsory for Muslims. These are,
1) Fajr (Offered after dawn and before sun rise)
2) Zohr (Offered in the mid-day after the sun begins to decline from its zenith until it is about midway on its course to set)
3) Asr (offered after the expiration of the noon when the sunlight becomes soft and pale)
4) Maghrib (Offered immediately after the sun set)
5) Isha (Offered when it becomes
completely dark and the night begins)
Friday is the Holy Day for Muslims. On this day they offer
special prayers in place of normal "Zohar" (mid-day) prayers.
These prayers are called "Juma Prayers" or Friday Prayers.
