Islamic Marriage

Man & Woman must look each other before Marriage:

I asked a woman in marriage and Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him) asked me whether I had looked at her. When I replied that I had not, he said: 'Then look at her, for it is better that there should be love between you.' (Narrated by Al-Mughirah)

 Lady'sConsent:

A lady's father gave her in marriage when she was a matron and she disliked that marriage. So she went to Allah's Apostle (Peace be upon him) and he declared that marriage invalid. (Narrated by Ansariya)

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: 'A matron should not be given in marriage except after consulting her; and a virgin should not be given in marriage except after her permission.' The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! How can we know her permission?" He said: 'Her silence (indicates her permission).' (Narrated by Abu Hurayrah)

 Consulting Mothers before Marriage:

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: 'Consult women about (the marriage of) their daughters.'

 Consulting Guardians before Marriage:

The Apostle of Allah (Peace be upon him) said: 'The marriage of a woman who marries without the consent of her guardians is void. (He said these words) three times. If there is cohabitation, she gets her dower for the intercourse her husband has had. If there is a dispute, the sultan (man in authority) is the guardian of one who has none.' (Narrated by Aisha)

The Greatest Right after Marriage:

Allah's Apostle (Peace be upon him) said: 'From among all the conditions which you have to fulfill, the conditions which make it legal for you to have sexual relations (i.e. the marriage contract) have the greatest right to be fulfilled.' (Narrated by Uqba bin Amir)

Congratulation on Marriage:

When the Prophet (Peace be upon him) congratulated a man on his marriage, he said: 'May Allah bless for you, and may He bless on you, and combine both of you in good (works).' (Narrated by Abu Hurayrah)
